Lilla Hyttnäs was originally built in 1837 and purchased in 1875 by Adolf Bergöö for his mother Catharina who had then become a widow. Two of Adolf’s six sisters, Ulla och Maria, moved in too. In 1888 Karin’s father Adolf Bergöö died and in 1901 the artist couple moved into Lilla Hyttnäs as their permanent home.
The watercolour The Cottage from 1894 shows the Larsson’s home Lilla Hyttnäs as it looked after the studio extension in 1890, but before the large roof window was replaced by a tiled roof.
